Interesting. Nigel Farage has just proclaimed that the Leave vote in the EU referendum has power, but no legitimacy.
She [von der Leyen] was confirmed by a margin of 383 votes to 327. She needed the backing of 374 out of 747 MEPs to win.
That's 51.3% (383 votes out of 747 MPs) or even 53.9% (383 votes out of 710 votes). As a reminder, Leave won the EU referendum with 52% of the votes (i.e. less than von der Leyen). Logical conclusion: The Leave win in the EU referendum might have power, but certainly no legitimacy.
