Upgrade Notice (Yet Again!)
In line with the latest post we shared about our plans for #diasp.in we will be updating #diaspora* to version 0.7.14.0 after 6 PM IST, today. #Matrix and #XMPP services will function as usual and there might be a slight downtime for diaspora*. We'll try to keep it to a minimum.

Hey diasp.in! What's with all the downtime lately? Lately, users of #diasp.in might be experiencing frequent #downtime and #upgrade notices. This must've definitely raised questions, as to what really are the #minions at diasp.in headquarters up to. Well, let us explain. A few weeks ago, the storage space on the server was running low (https://poddery.com/posts/5579675). Some volunteer sysadmins got together and performed some cleanup operations to ensure services keep functioning. However, it only helped for a short period of time and we found ourselves in the same situation again. It was inevitable to switch to a bigger hosting plan which resulted in a 2 day downtime (https://poddery.com/posts/5640706) while the volunteers worked on the migration (https://poddery.com/posts/5646647). Over the next couple of weeks after moving to a bigger hosting plan, we started discussing internally about building a sustainable infrastructure that will serve us for a long time and won't need frequ...poddery.com

I'm pretty impressed with Movim so far. Aside from having a clean interface and a nice mobile app, it has groups, chatrooms, and editable posts! One-on-one chat works great too (it's built on top of XMPP so one would hope).
If your pod has XMPP enabled, you can log in to a movim pod using your D* account, and if not, there are plenty of places to get a free XMPP account, including chat.gibberfish.org.
