Des songes d’eau

Je trace les motifs des songes
au travers d’êtres déguisés
libérés en particules évanouies
révélant des éclats de moi-même.
Dans l’espoir de guérir mes naufrages,
je pourchasse un sommeil en cavale,
ultime refuge où ancrer mon vaisseau.
Dreams Like Water

I trace patterns in dreams
through beings disguised
undone like particles broken apart
revealing pieces of me.
I pursue elusive sleep
in the hope to heal mishaps
the last chance to anchor my boat.

Ich hab Euch ja gestern von meinem unerwarteten Besucher erzählt, der mir so einen #Schreck in die Glieder gejagt hat.

Hare ball (2020 BigPicture Natural World Photography Contest)
by Andy Parkinson

"To get this intimate shot of a mountain hare (Lepus timidus) curled up against a Scottish winter storm, Andy Parkinson endured weeks of ferocious cold and wind that drove shards of ice into his face. Britain’s only native rabbit species, on the other hand, is utterly at home in these inhospitable conditions. Groups of twenty or more hares gather each winter to nibble heather on leeward slopes, where the snow tends to be shallower. Before resting, they jump away from their tracks to confuse predators. And while some ride out storms in burrows or depressions, this female created her own shelter, tucking herself into a ball to conserve heat and minimize exposure to the elements. It’s a nifty strategy for surviving the kind of weather that drives most creatures indoors or underground.

Despite their fortitude, mountain hares are Britain’s fastest-declining mammal, due to unregulated hunting and habitat loss. Parkinson hopes that calling attention to these remarkable rabbits will convince legislators to protect them."

**Solar Halo on the sky of Thessaloniki **
An impressive phenomenon was recorded in the sky of Thessaloniki on the afternoon of Friday 17/4/2020. The photo was taken by a member of a group of northmeteo.gr
According to information from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(optical_phenomenon:
"Halo (from Greek ἅλως halōs) is the name for a family of optical phenomena produced by light (typically from the Sun or Moon) interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. Halos can have many forms, ranging from colored or white rings to arcs and spots in the sky. Many of these appear near the Sun or Moon, but others occur elsewhere or even in the opposite part of the sky. Among the best known halo types are the circular halo (properly called the 22° halo), light pillars, and sun dogs, but many others occur; some are fairly common while others are (extremely) rare.
The ice crystals responsible for halos are typically suspended in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds in the upper troposphere (5–10 km (3.1–6.2 mi)), but in cold weather they can also float near the ground, in which case they are referred to as diamond dust. The particular shape and orientation of the crystals are responsible for the type of halo observed. Light is reflected and refracted by the ice crystals and may split into colors because of dispersion. The crystals behave like prisms and mirrors, refracting and reflecting light between their faces, sending shafts of light in particular directions.
Atmospheric optical phenomena like halos were used as part of weather lore, which was an empirical means of weather forecasting before meteorology was developed. They often do indicate that rain will fall within the next 24 hours, since the cirrostratus clouds that cause them can signify an approaching frontal system.
Other common types of optical phenomena involving water droplets rather than ice crystals include the glory and rainbow."

"Hanlala, c'est haut !
...

That´s not very much, but it was exactly how much little 🐰Alba❤ weighed arriving at @saijaszoo yesterday evening.
This little brown hare was found with a dead sibling aside him/her. The other baby had already been pecked to death - by gulls, magpies and / or crows - but this one is now safe with Saija, looked after and being fed around the clock every 3 hours.
I met Alba earlier this afternoon, and in these pics the little one is assumed to be less than 48 hrs "old".
It is much too soon to make any predictions, but if nothing new and tragic turns up there is at least some reason for cautios optimism.
Then again, only time will tell..
Just so you know, the Finnish government today declared a national emergency because of this damn #coronavirus and we are pretty much going into a lockdown, with several tight restrictions taking place starting tomorrow. This obviously means, that updating this post jusr might get a bit "tricky" along the way... but I promise to try my best. (Also, both Saija and I are just fine at the moment btw)

On the verge: a quiet roadside revolution is boosting wildflowers | Environment | The Guardian

Projects to reduce grass cutting and increase the diversity of plants and wildlife along Britain’s roads are having dramatic results
A little bit of good news in a worrisome world.
