joindiaspora’s last month’s active user count fell from 4500 in august 2018 to 940 today
because i closed the registration. many accounts were spam and bot accs.
Many questions related to the future of JD and the ticket I posted were answered in private. I didn’t know that I have to report to you…You don't have to report to me, but you have to report to your users. Everytime jd's not working, your users send mails and messages to me, asking if I could ping you because you never respond to their messages. They believe you are more likely to answer me than them.
JD has a backup solution and no I did not loose data nor resetted all passwords. At the time many accounts were abused for spaming. And mentioned accounts received a password reset. People with invalid mail addresses were able to contact me (which a lot did) and we resolved the issue via a different way.Well, you talked about 1,500 accounts with resetted passwords. Dennis' account wasn't used for spamming and was still resetted. My three accounts (of which I lost access to two) was resetted although they haven't been spamming. The countless users who complained on diaspora (on other pods, mostly) and on twitter haven't been spamming. And again, people who sent you emails and never got a response.
