Looking for an application to manage chores in a family household

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for an application to manage #chores and other tasks in a household. It should be web based with mobile optimization or having its own mobile app. I like my services to be #selfhosted an a #server to avoid too much data draining into the cloud. Most important is usability. It should be wife and kids prove :-)
I looked at different #ticketsystem, #kanban boards and #todo lists but couldn't settle on a strategy to implement it for my #family. How are you doing it in a somewhat nerdy household?

What I like to achieve is to not forget some rarer chores like replacing smoke alarms after 10yrs (you do that right?) or fix the hole in the rain gutter. Also I could setup some basic chores in categories for the kids and use the systems API (another nice to have feature) to automatically grant internet access to their devices as long as the category is empty. I could see them to start circumvent the system so we can have some nice "hacking game" going on...

The old text file that is edited with vim on #linux and then checked in to my git repository is not doing it for my family. (I know, bad parenting...)

I'm excited to read some of your ideas or solutions on that matter.
Something like #TaskWarrior maybe? I think now they split into a client/server model so maybe you could be able to find some GUI client if CLI is not your thing

Taskwarrior is great. Install the server on a beaglebone black or raspberry pi (it is in many Linux repo's as well as in openbsd, so simply use your package manager), and use clients on your Linux desktop or Android device, which you keep in sync through the server.
A taskwarrior server can serve many different accounts, so you can help your friends too :)
@mattof@protagio.social I didn't know there were android apps too! are they in fdroid? can you suggest one?
Thank you all for your input.
I'm looking into #grocy right now. It has way more features than is needed but I might be able to remove them for the users to keep it simple and clean. The calendar view is great.

I didn't know about #taskwarrior. That is exactly what I would use. Not my family though. I'm showing it off to some colleagues and the project might have some new users in the future.

For file sharing we use #seafile instead of #nextcloud because of E2E encryption without storing keys at the server. I still have an old version running somewhere for testing purposes. I have a look at the #carnet app later.

I am using the taskwarrior app on Android, but don't know if this is also available on fdroid

it is on f-droid. haven't been update for a while though but it is working.
Where has Grocy been? My wife would love for me to have something like this for myself 🤗
